As a Peak Performance Coach, Certified Self Management Coach, Peoplemap™ Trainer and keynote speaker,
Susan J. Atkinson, Ph.D. works with individuals, small businesses, and self employed professionals
to promote increased professional and personal effectiveness. She empowers her clients to achieve tangible results
as well as greater life satisfaction and greater resilience in a changing world.
Susan is a licensed psychologist with over 25 years in the human services field and has operated her own business
for the past 20 years. She obtained a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982 and
received Coaches training through the Institute for Life Coaching Training. She has specialized training in Peak
Performance coaching through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).
She is a founding member of International Association of Coaches (IAC) and a founding member of the Greater
Pittsburgh Coaches Association on which she served on the executive board for three years. She served as secretary
for the executive board of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) from
2003 until 2005 and in 2005, she was awarded Pittsburgh Business Owner of the Year. She is currently serving as
secretary to the boad of directors for the Polish Hill Civic Association. Additionally, she maintains memberships
in the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the Greater Pittsburgh
Psychological Association and the Western Pennsylvania Society for Clinical Hypnosis. Susan is recognized by the
National Registry of Who's Who of American Women.
In addition to her professional life, Susan has been a lifelong athlete having trained in Shotokan Karate for 15
years, and holds the rank of Nidan. She draws from the philosophy and mentality she learned in Shotokan and views this
as a paradigm for her life. She brings this training, experience, spirit and commitment to her coaching.
